The Berlin Wall stood until November 9, 1989, when the head of the East German Communist Party announced that citizens of the GCP could cross the border whenever they pleased.
That night, ecstatic crowds swarmed the wall. Some crossed freely into West Berlin, while others brought hammers and picks and began to chip away at the wall itself.
Who would have ever thought this would ever happen…
From 1961 until the wall came down in 1989, at least 171 people were killed trying to escape from East Germany by either attempting to get over, under, or around the Wall.
Infact despite severe consequences to escape East Germany, it was not impossible for a few to experience change.
According to an article updated Nov 9, 2019 / original Dec 15, 2009 entitled “The Berlin Wall” by History.com almost 5,000 East Germans (including some 600 border guards) managed to cross the border by jumping out of windows adjacent to the wall, climbing over the barbed wire, flying in hot air balloons, crawling through the sewers and driving through unfortified parts of the wall at high speeds.
Psalms 18:29 says “For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. Luke 1:37 states “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
Today, spray-painted on a piece of the wall are the words “is the war really over.”
You see, it wasn’t until October 3, 1990, almost one year after the fall of the Berlin wall that East and West Germany was declared reunified.
In life we all experience obstacles and face giants at some time or another. Infact many times these problems so often appear insurmountable, but really they aren’t.
It is important to remember the greater your giant…the harder it will fall. Why? Because there is no giant, problem or adversity great enough to stop you from what your Heavenly Father has pre-ordained for you. His plan stands… final answer.
You win… because like the Berlin wall, there are certain problems handled best with a group of like-minded individuals.
Your problem is more manageable and your goals attainable with a little help and support.
You always accomplish more, attain your dreams, goals and share your lessons doing life together and accomplishing it with others.
No longer does success have to be accomplished or shared alone. You win. The sooner you realize this the better you are.
That’s what happened to many East Germans as they removed the Berlin Wall changing history…one brick at a time.
