Summer is quickly approaching and undoubtedly so does the intensity of many seasonal responsibilities and invitations to school plays, holiday & beach parties, summer camps, gifts and, yes, the big family cook-outs and holiday meals. This year FOCUS ON WHAT REALLY MATTERS…such as, FAMILY.
When I refer to “family” I also mean your close friends. After all, they are essentially our extended family members – we have the option to choose them. Maybe some of you sometimes want to “De-Family” certain relatives but an app hasn’t been created for that yet.
Even if You attempt to disconnect from your family, DNA doesn’t lie and relationship bonds and dynamics developed over time, cannot be easily erased.
These memories and interpersonal experiences contribute to who you are for the rest of your life. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, the presents our children play with eventually are thrown to the side.
This year instead of entrenching yourself in debt and over extending yourself more than you should, try following these easy steps… Plan, Manage, Choose and Enjoy…
Plan–
Plan for your spending on gifts, graduations, birthdays, teacher appreciations. Try to prepare for these events that you may have at your child’s school, family/friends or church. Spend time organizing your home. Don’t over extend yourself. It’s okay to decline and take time out time for YOU.
Manage-
Manage Your Time wisely. It is important for you to leave a period of times or days which you spend time at home to talk about life, dreams, hopes and desires with your children and loved ones. Let them know how you feel about them and regularly tell them what you appreciate and are grateful for.
Choose-
Choose what to focus on. The reality is NOTHING is forever. Our children grow up and the things we used to do someday we will not do at all. Decide to CREATE memories.
Enjoy-
Enjoy the journey. We are passing through, and our lives are summed up with MEMORIES YOU CREATE. You are a solution to a problem. People never remember you by what you THINK or DREAM. You will be remembered by what you DO and the PROBLEMS YOU SOLVE.
